Every complete sentence contains at least one verb. A verb or verbs in a sentence may consists of one individual word or a group of words. A verb is a word or group of words that shows action. It may also show a condition or show that something exists.
There are action verbs and linking verbs. An action verb expresses physical action. It shows what someone or something does, did, or will do. A linking verb expresses a condition or shows that something exists.
They be transitive or intransitive. A transitive verb directs action toward someone or something. An intransitive verb does not direct action toward someone or something.
There are also verb phrases. Verbs which consists of more than one word are called verb phrases.
