Hannah C. Hall’s “God Bless” books are so sweet. We loved God Bless My Friends. God Bless My School did not disappoint us either. God Bless My School is a cute board book about going to school. The story opens up at the end of summer. Autumn has arrived and it’s time for little hedge hog to go to school. Then, a little bear shows us that he is learning to tie the new shoes his mama bought him for his first day. The book starts off with a hedge hog but kids will soon realize that on each page is a different animal.
When your children read this book, they will enjoy watching a hedge hog, a bear, a penguin, a bird, a beaver, a rabbit, a raccoon, a duck, a giraffe, a dog, a pig, a kitten, and even a red panda enjoy their first day of school. Their teacher is a wise owl.
As the little birdie heads off to school, she remembers that God is with her.
I thought it was super cute that the little animals each had a lunch related to their natural diets. The racoon was eating leaves. The pig was enjoying an apple. The dog was chowing down on some doggie treats. The bird was pecking away at a bowl of bird seeds.
The animals laugh, eat, play, and learn together as they go through their first day of school. They know God goes with them and they ask God to bless their school.
While you read God Bless My School with your young children, remind them that God is with them when they go to school. Talk to them about their classmates, their teacher, and others in the school. Pray with them and ask God to bless their school.
